a bjd advent – dec 23 – baking day
the girls got together to make the christmas cookies today
meg got out their new aprons, then kiri and eilidh set up
next they mixed the batter
after they rolled out the dough the little ones cut out the cookies
i was going to take pretty pictures of the cookies they made, but unfortunately with so many kids in the house, all that was left was a few crumbs 🙂
a bjd advent – dec 21 – snow angels and snow fort
since there was another fresh fall of snow last night, the girls went outside and made snow angels.
the boys found to their dismay that their winter jackets were in the wash (don’t ask 😉 ), but meg gave them a bunch of giant pompoms and let them have an indoor snowball fight. emrys drew the short straw and had to use the girls pink table as his fort, so he covered it with a blanket so no one could see.
some of the shots went pretty wild, no real harm done though,
and they had a lot of fun!

a bjd advent – dec 20 dancing around the christmas tree
meg had some unexpected appointments today, so baking got postponed till monday. to wear off some steam the kids decided to have a dance party. they shoved the coffee table over and eilidh offered to man the record player
things were going well till noah thought a pillow fight would be more fun, and poor little annalise got overwhelmed by all the noise…

a bjd advent – dec 19 paper chains
the girls spent the afternoon making wrapping paper chains
first they cut up strips of double sided wrapping paper
then worked in pairs to make long chains
crystal and annalise made thin ones
cricket and dovey made fatter ones
meg was up late tonight making aprons and oven mitts for this weekends’ baking marathon
a bjd christmas – dec 18 – make a gift day
today was “make a gift day” so all the kids scattered to various rooms and got to work
kiri and eilidh made memory match games for the littles
cricket taught the little girls beading so they could make bracelets for meg and the big girls
they all managed to string the beads, but needed a little help tying the knots
the boys made clay ashtrays trinket bowls out of oven baked clay
then they got creative…
after meg baked their creations, the boys painted them
elwin hid in the craft cupboard, knitting

noah and emrys quickly got tired of sitting, so volunteered to take the paper scraps out to recycling

a bjd advent – dec 16 – hampers for the food bank
for the past couple weeks the kids have been doing extra chores to earn grocery vouchers that they can redeem for pantry items to give to the food bank, today meg put out some big boxes and the kids put stuff in throughout the day…
apparently meg underestimated the kids desire to help others

a bjd advent – dec 14th – decorating the tree, from calm to chaos
there was great excitement today as it was the day they all got to help decorate the tree, kiri carefully unpacked all the ornaments, crystal started putting them up on the lower branches, dovey and annalise were in charge of setting up the mini trees and nativities, eilidh was busily putting out the christmas pillows and throws.
meg and cricket went downstairs to bring up the rest of the decorations, so the boys decided to help untangle the christmas lights…
