i have been collecting these spools for several years now, with the thought that i would cover them with knit or crocheted stitches as use them both as room decor and photo props for my girls to sit on. the esk stitch sampler kal prompted me to get off my butt and actually do it this year!
here is the first one covered with a cabled stitch in fingering yarn, it is about 5 inches tall
