kids are still sick, so i have to resort to an older picture instead of taking new ones.
i love the effect of light coming in a window.

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!’
she chortled in her joy
i got two my swap parcels (this and another one) in the mail. my little ones are hiding from sick kids in the house, but i hope to be able to get them to come out for pictures in the next day or two. in the meantime, smidge, beezie and amberglas are busy gloating over all the lovely little parcels
the world was blanketed in fog this morning, the sun struggling to break through, but yielding only a dim and ghostly glow
i looked out the window after the kids had left for school and saw a gorgeous sunrise through the silhouette of the trees. this time i actually had a charged battery and was able to capture part of what i saw.
time for a “springy” picture. it snowed here last night. the white is really pretty but not quite deep enough to make for interesting shots yet, so i’ll post an old one instead. (i’m really not a winter person anyway)
early as i got up this morning, someone else was up first. i came downstairs to see noni sitting on my sewing machine. do you have pink ones made yet? she queried. i NEEDS pink!
i want to make the girls new pajamas for christmas. i found a really cute red knit with white snowflakes on it to make them with. but first i have to get a pattern that fits.
noni volunteered to be my model for the little girls on the condition that i make her a pair of pink ones, since that is her “favoritist” color.
i made the first trial from a lovely soft blue cotton velour. unfortunately it was just to bulky for the wee ones.
noni said they were way too hot, and not PINK!
next i tried a lightweight knit. the fabric is from a jersey sheet i got cheap to use as test fabric. the pattern is printed crooked so it really doesn’t work for anything else. i realized after i sewed them up that i did the bottoms on the “wrong” side and the top on the “right”. oh well they are just to test for fit anyway.
i think the legs need to be a smidge longer. when i made them snugger in the crotch it cut a bit too much off the leg length.
noni says they are much more comfortable but still NOT PINK!
then she noticed the elastic hanging down the back.
look she said
i gots a tail!
i loved the patten the snow made as it was melting. snow seldom lasts here. it just gives us teasing tastes of spring so far off as we are barely into winter. but at least we can dream….
i loved the contrast in textures. i’m more into capturing details usually than the big pictures. to me they have more “scope for the imagination”
the chipmunks at glacier park are more wary than the ones we see at banff. they tend to be poised for flight instead of hamming it up for the camera. that makes it more rewarding when they are successfully caught on “film”
